Tease your Brain: Brain Teaser #001

We are starting of another daily series of articles which will feature highly interesting brain teasers (at least we found them to be so!), along with the solutions. The answers to the Brain Teasers will be published on the following day on which the teaser was posted along with a fresh brain teaser for that day. We are planning to run the series for about two months now and see how it goes down with the readers.

We have found that that such brain teasers are often a part of the questionnaire during campus placements and written job interviews. Besides, solving the brain teasers would help candidates solving the Logical Ability section of Management Entrance Exams like CAT, GMAT or XAT. So happy puzzle solving!

Brain Teaser #001:
There is a 50m long army platoon marching ahead. The last person in the platoon wants to give a letter to the first person leading the platoon. So while the platoon is marching he runs ahead, reaches the first person and hands over the letter to him and without stopping he runs and comes back to his original position.
In the mean time the whole platoon has moved ahead by 50m.
The question is how much distance did the last person cover in that time assuming that he ran the whole distance with uniform speed.

(Answer to this puzzle is be published tomorrow at 10am sharp)
